America Is Under Nazi Control. You Know What To Do.

BJ Blazkowicz is back. And he’s angrier than ever. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus PC Download picks up right where The New Order ended. BJ is broken. His body is wrecked from the last game’s final battle. But the Nazis have taken over America, and someone has to stop them.

Here’s the deal. It’s 1961. The Nazi flag flies over the White House. General Engel, the one-armed psychopath who killed your friends, is running the show. You join up with the Kreisau Circle resistance and start a second American Revolution. From the ruins of New York to the swamps of Louisiana to Venus (yes, Venus), you’re going to shoot every Nazi you see.

The story is wild. Over-the-top. Completely ridiculous in the best way. There’s a scene with Hitler that is absolutely bonkers. There are flashbacks to BJ’s childhood that are surprisingly emotional. The game swings from laugh-out-loud funny to genuinely heartbreaking .

The Gameplay Is Fast. Messy. Addictive.

The New Order was a slower, more tactical shooter. The New Colossus? It’s DOOM with Nazis.

Levels are packed with enemies. Lots of them. You can’t hide behind cover and pick them off one by one. You need to keep moving. Double-wield assault rifles. Grab a shotgun and blast through a door. The game wants you to be aggressive .

Stealth is an option, but it’s weirdly balanced. Some enemies can’t be killed silently, which messes up your sneaky approach .

The guns feel great. Heavy. Punchy. Each one has a second firing mode. The assault rifle has a scope. The shotgun can fire explosive rounds. You’ll find upgrades scattered across each level.

The level design is creative. One mission has you sneaking through a courthouse. Another has you fighting on the surface of Venus. There’s a sequence inside a ruined New York subway that’s genuinely tense.

It Runs Great (Even on Older PCs)

No Denuvo. That’s the headline. Bethesda stopped using the controversial DRM for this one. The Evil Within 2 launched without it. Wolfenstein II followed suit .

The game uses the id Tech 6 engine. Same as DOOM 2016. That means it’s well-optimized. It supports Vulkan. It runs on hardware that’s nearly a decade old .

The trade-off? Cracked versions exist. They’ve been out since 2017. But the official version has zero DRM headaches. No activation limits. No online check-ins. Just install and play.

The DLCs: Three New Heroes

The Season Pass includes The Freedom Chronicles. Three separate stories. Each one follows a different hero fighting Nazis in different parts of America .

  • The Adventures of Gunslinger Joe – You play Joseph Stallion, a former pro quarterback. Smash through Nazis from the ruins of Chicago to space.
  • The Diaries of Agent Silent Death – You play Jessica Valiant, an ex-OSS assassin. Infiltrate hidden Nazi bunkers in California.
  • The Deeds of Captain Wilkins – You play Captain Gerald Wilkins. Head to Nazi-controlled Alaska to dismantle Operation Black Sun.

Episode Zero is the intro to all three heroes. It’s included with the Season Pass . The DLCs add about 6-8 hours of extra content. Not essential, but fun if you want more Nazi-killing.

Where It Falls Short

The New Colossus isn’t perfect. Some players prefer the original.

The story loses steam in the final act. The ending is anticlimactic. Compared to the emotional gut-punch of The New Order’s finale, this one feels rushed .

The difficulty is weird. On higher settings, you die fast. But health and armor are everywhere, so you just keep moving and grabbing everything .

Some levels are frustrating. Poorly placed checkpoints. Instant-fail stealth sections. And the graphics, while a step up from The New Order, felt dated even in 2017 .

But here’s the thing. When you’re dual-wielding shotguns, running down a hallway, and watching Nazis explode into bloody chunks? None of that stuff matters. The game is fun.

Can You Run It?

Yes. The game is very well-optimized. The minimum specs ask for a GTX 770 from 2013. Even a budget gaming PC from the last five years will handle this easily.

The game supports Vulkan, which helps performance on AMD hardware. On PC, you can unlock the framerate, adjust FOV, and tweak plenty of graphics settings .

Best Games Like Wolfenstein II

Love fast-paced shooters, killing Nazis, and over-the-top action? These games will scratch the same itch.

Game NameWhy You Will Love It
Wolfenstein: The New OrderThe prequel. Slower. More tactical. Still brilliant. The emotional story will wreck you. Play this first if you haven’t.
DOOM (2016)Same engine (id Tech 6). Same fast-paced combat. Same “keep moving or die” philosophy. No Nazis though. Demons instead. Still awesome.
Metro ExodusSlower. Creepier. More survival-focused. But the gunplay is tight, and the atmosphere is incredible. A different flavor of first-person action.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus free to play?
No. Standard Edition is $39.99 full price. But it goes on sale for $10-15 constantly. Wait for a sale. Absolute steal at that price.

Where can I get the Wolfenstein II PC download safely?
Stick to Steam. That’s the official storefront. The game has no Denuvo, so the official version is clean and easy to install. Avoid random “free download” sites—the game is cheap enough on sale .

Do I need an internet connection to play it?
Only for the initial download and updates. The single-player campaign works completely offline after that. No always-online nonsense. No launcher required after installation.

What is the total download file size?
55 GB . Clear that space. An SSD is nice but not required. The game loads fine on a hard drive.

Do I need to play The New Order first?
Yes. Strongly recommended. The New Colossus picks up immediately after the ending of The New Order. You’ll miss major emotional beats and character context if you skip the first game. Plus, The New Order is brilliant. Play it.

Is this better than The New Order?
Depends who you ask. The New Order has a tighter story and more emotional impact. The New Colossus has better gunplay and crazier set pieces . Both are great. Play them in order.
